Here is my squid report regarding the 2 squid jigs I purchased at the Candy Catcher booth in Long Beach. Went out of Seaforth Landing on the New Seaforth Monday night. We were done in about 1.5 hours ... all the squid you wanted. Started off slow, but within 30 minutes it was wide open. I used the Candy Catcher gold colored 1.5 pound jig it was perfect. I like the action of it sinking compared to the longer jigs. I had both types and tried yours and compared to the other Monster jig. Your's did perform better when squid fishing was slow, but when it was wide, well you know the story from there. I did not lose a squid with your jig and fished buttoned down on my 2 speed. Robert

Capt Ryan Bostain from the San Diego the 3/4 day boat to give you an update for the last few days, the fishing has been very good for Yellowtail at the Coronado Islands. We have been averaging anywhere from 30 to 70 fish per day, make sure to bring your 25 lb setups and some 1/0 or 2/0 live bait hooks. WE have been fishing the anchor most of the time, yesterday we stayed on the anchor all day. The fish have been averaging from 12 to 25 lbs, the loads have been light and the fishing fun. We only have 3 sigend up for tomorrow, but we are going to show and hope to get some walk ups, with the light loads recently there has been plenty of rail room for everyone.

The San Diego finished today with 23 yellowfin 42 skipjack. Still plenty of fish out there. Make those reservations.

Hello everyone, Today we had to work at it. The Yellowtail did not come easy, but we were able to piece it together with a couple flurries in the morning. For the most part the Yellowtail being tagged have been great size,18-35 lbs! In addition to the Yellowtail we we did land some beautiful grouper. Both Snowy and Leopard!. A great 8 day trip bonus! I had such a great time fishing with Captain Ryan Bostian and his crew aboard the San Diego that I couldn't resist jumping aboard again for another shot at some of those big Coronado Island yellows. There are big schools of yellowtail roaming the Coronado Islands and recent fish counts have been ranging anywhere from just a few fish to 70-80 fish per trip. No sense trying to figure it out. Pick a day and go !!! Captain Bostian and the San Diego fish the Coronado Islands everyday, so nobody knows them better or fishes them harder than the Captain and his crew. We looked for and caught a few barracuda along the coast as we made our way down to the Coronados. We worked several areas of both islands looking for a school of yellows that wanted to stay with the boat. We saw plenty of action around the boat and would hook one or two yellows at each spot, but we could never get them to bite aggresively. We landed 10-11 nice yellows highlighted by Aiyana Schwartz's huge jackpot yellow that she hooked on a dropper looped sardine. All in all a great day on the water with an excellent chance at catching a trophy fish. The Coronado Islands are about to break wide open and Captain Bostian and the crew aboard the San Diego will be there. We got into the albacore grounds late in the morning. Most of the guys there already had a mix of around 30 albacore and yellowfin. We struggled and just couldn't find the right school until about 4:00 in the afternoon. Then it was wide open albacore fishing until 6:30. As we sat down to a superb dinner of Veal chops with Port and Mushroom sauce we reflected on what had started as a brutally tough day had turned into a simply great day! We will definitely stay here and try this again tomorrow. Thanks, Tommy

YELLOWFIN ON THE REBOUND (090510) APOLLO came back in from a 2-day trip with 133 Yellowfin Tuna, 16 Albacore & 6 Bluefin Tuna. Time to go guys!!!
