pittsburgh Fishing Report 2025

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this morning at 6:02 AM with an update from yesterday’s trip aboard the San Diego!  We are on our way out Saturday morning.  We had a good trip yesterday.  We went out with 36 passengers and we caught 15 Bluefin Tuna.  Two of the Bluefin were 60 to 65 pounders.  The rest were 30 to 35 pounders.  There are also some bigger ones jumping around out there.  We also had a kelp for 74 Yellowtail and 26 big Bonito.

We are heading out right now there is a slight wind lump.  Call Seaforth now at (619) 224-3383 to get in on the action.

Bring a flat-fall rig and a bait stick.  We recommend a heavy stick for fat-fall and a 2 speed reel with 60 to 80 pound spectra and a short top shot.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-24-2019 We arrived early afternoon to the fishing grounds. We had a good afternoon of fishing on tuna from 12 to 35 pounds. Most of the fish were down toward the lower end of the spectrum. We didn't see much sign of anything else but the tuna throughout the afternoon but were still going to stay another day here to get fixed up on them. Late in the day we decided to pull the anchor and go troll around about 40 minutes before dark but picked up a old seiner anchor that weighed about 500 pounds. That ended those plans! It took us about three hours to get rid of it and fix everything it broke! Quite the tussle. Good weather still a little squally and rainy at times but good seas! See you tomorrow. 22 pass. 9 bluefin tuna from 50-100 lbs. A 50 lb setup with a 1/0 circle hook and a 4-6 oz torpedo sinker above the hook was the hot ticket. We also hooked a few fish on 200 gram Shimano flatfalls.

Limits of dorado and 1 yellowtail. One stop shop on a lucky kelp. Unable to get a picture during our “mahi mayhem” but here’s one of the swordfish we saw later in the day.

Sept. 30

Jodyyyyy! We did it! We got all fixed up on dorado today. You got all fixed up on dorado today. Everyone reading this got all fixed up on dorado today. It all went down after lunch. We drove by something floating, stopped the boat, and we saw colors everywhere, they were in the air, they were all around us. It was my first wide open dorado bite while listening to Poisons "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" playing in the back ground. So scratch that off the list. A tremendous amount of pressure has been lifted off of everyone on board. And yes, we celebrated with a cigar. Mmm. Other then that we watched a couple movies while we rigged tackle, Charlie did a bunch of laps around the boat, the Jer Bear slept all day and the rest of everyone just relaxed and enjoyed the outstanding weather once again. One more full day of traveling. After we go to bed tomorrow, we will be waking up at our destination. See you all tomorrow.

Mike Pritchard called in this morning with this report for the Tribute. "We've had a very nice start here this moring. A couple of kelps have been absolutely fantastic. Great Yellowtail fishing to go along with some Yellowfin and Dorado. We caught 160 Yellowtail out of 2 drifts. A lot of the fish were caught on surface irons, swimbait and even poppers.

"We are now targeting some tuna or maybe some Dorado. We'll keep you informed."

Hello Everyone, Today we had a great day of fishing on 20-40 lb Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna. With a few 70 lbers mixed in. The style is awesome, long drifts keeping 1-4 going for hours at a time. We are loving the grade of the fish and that they are biting consistently. We are in tomorrow and leave on an 8 day. It will be nice fishing south for a nice change of scenery.
