Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-24-2019 We arrived early afternoon to the fishing grounds. We had a good afternoon of fishing on tuna from 12 to 35 pounds. Most of the fish were down toward the lower end of the spectrum. We didn't see much sign of anything else but the tuna throughout the afternoon but were still going to stay another day here to get fixed up on them. Late in the day we decided to pull the anchor and go troll around about 40 minutes before dark but picked up a old seiner anchor that weighed about 500 pounds. That ended those plans! It took us about three hours to get rid of it and fix everything it broke! Quite the tussle. Good weather still a little squally and rainy at times but good seas! See you tomorrow. Capt Ryan Bostain from the San Diego the 3/4 day boat to give you an update for the last few days, the fishing has been very good for Yellowtail at the Coronado Islands. We have been averaging anywhere from 30 to 70 fish per day, make sure to bring your 25 lb setups and some 1/0 or 2/0 live bait hooks. WE have been fishing the anchor most of the time, yesterday we stayed on the anchor all day. The fish have been averaging from 12 to 25 lbs, the loads have been light and the fishing fun. We only have 3 sigend up for tomorrow, but we are going to show and hope to get some walk ups, with the light loads recently there has been plenty of rail room for everyone.

Aug. 19
    Let me explain to you readers why I had such a great day today.  I am in a great mood and here's why.  It all starts at the bait receivers.  I lifted up the lid for the bait and I saw great bait and alot of them in the box.  Then we netted it and it still looked great and after it was in our tanks it still looked great!  It was schooled up and hanging low in the tank looking healthy.  The best part is we got three boxes of it and for the first time for a while, with the mackerel myself and the crew caught this morning, we have a full load of bait on board.  Now we're not totally in the clear yet.  The bait had only been in the receiver for a day so it had no time to cure and that's always concerning.  It also lost some of it's protective scales as we loaded it so there is a danger of it getting sick but so far so good.  We'll know more in the morning.  For the first time in 3 nights we're not running in to fish for bait all night so we get to sleep.  Stoked.  

    The other reason I had such a good day is the good day we had today.  Our timing was great.  I think it started around 4:00.  Our first stop of the afternoon was a good one.  We landed about 50 of those mostly 20-25 pound yellowfin.  After that we went from stop to stop catching anywhere from 5-20 of those beauts.  We had one heck of a departure day and those fish were free.  Stoked.  Oh yeah, the crew and I had a nap today before we got to the grounds and we felt rested and great.  Now I'm showered and am going to go eat dinner.  Stoked.

Yesterday was an absolutely fantastic day. We had great yellowtail fishing on 30-40 lb grade with the big ones pushing 45 lbs.

In the afternoon we came across a big school of smaller grade yellowfin and released most of them. Weather is still flat clam and gorgeous. We also got a handful of Dorado and saw a swordfish. Chef Tommy put out a great lunch of Alaskan King crab and lobster, and for dinner we were served a slow roasted pork loin with roasted macadamia plum sauce.

Very delicious. This morning we are on our way to fish big tuna, and our weather is still fantastic. Thanks for tuning in.

40 bluefin 14 yellowfin. Steady stop and go action. Small jigs like the Shimano colt sniper and flat fall or a rubber banded sinker rig both fished on 40-60lb line were top producers.

We had a great day fishing open water on the yellowtail up to 25 lbs, and dorado up to 20 lbs. Our weather is excellent. It couldn't be any better. Today was just a fantastic day.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this morning at 6:02 AM with an update from yesterday’s trip aboard the San Diego!  We are on our way out Saturday morning.  We had a good trip yesterday.  We went out with 36 passengers and we caught 15 Bluefin Tuna.  Two of the Bluefin were 60 to 65 pounders.  The rest were 30 to 35 pounders.  There are also some bigger ones jumping around out there.  We also had a kelp for 74 Yellowtail and 26 big Bonito.

Bring a flat-fall rig and a bait stick.  We recommend a heavy stick for fat-fall and a 2 speed reel with 60 to 80 pound spectra and a short top shot.
