northwest Fishing Report 2024

Hey everyone it's time again to start seriously thinking about when you will be able to get on the boat for a tuna trip. Well the albies are being caught right now in good weather and some bft are showing up too. We have 2 openings on a two day charter next week. We depart on Wednesday night and return on Friday night. The trip is limited to only 15 people! The cost is $650. this includes food and permits. If you are interested in going on this trip please contact Steve at 714 272-4395.

Great boat, great crew, great food, great passengers, good weather, slow fishing. That's just the way it went down on this day and a half. We were in tuna mode trying for nice quality albacore.

We scratched 26 and some yellows and let go lots of flats. Descent amount of fish seen at times throughout the day, but they didn't climb on our hooks. Hopefully soon coming and more consistent. Next trip is a 5 day, so stay tuned.

Today the San Diego had 24 anglers catching 1 BlueFinn Tuna, 111 Yellowtail. Fish ranging from 5-20 pounds. Lot of fun. They have a private charter tomorrow, Saturday, but they are open after that. Call 619 224 3383.

On the recent Simpatico 6 day trip, anglers had access to fishing with Accurate rods and the new Valiant and Tern reels.

The outfits were perfect for the fish we encountered on the ridge. Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Yellowtail, and Grouper.

Well what the heck! I just went to go get some pictures to post on our wrap up of Tom Chaparros six-day trip! Yes that's right it was a six-day trip not a five! And next year it is going to be a seven-day trip! If you care to join Tom and his gang give Susan a call! He limits his trip to only 18 anglers. Anyways I went to go get some pictures out of our files and all we had was pizza! And then I realized the only slow day of fishing we had out of six days was the day we made pizza! Thus the only day we had time to take pictures! We were too busy gaffing 18 to 22 pound average yellowtail and or 15 To 16 pound average yellowfin tuna! Our fishing was absolutely fantastic. The yellowtail fishing was excellent surface iron and fly line sardine as well was the yellowfin tuna fishing. A iron throwers paradise. One thing I should point out about Tom's trip as well as every trip we've had so far this year is that our weather has been absolutely superb! I think maybe we've only had two choppy days in the last 33. Tom Chaparros seven day trip next year 2018 will be departing on Wednesday August 1 and arriving Wednesday, August 8. After getting to see what great fishing we could get into stretching the trip 1 day and seeing some of the other boats on longer trips getting a shot at the Wahoo it got everyone to want to extend the trip. Captain Ryan Bostian checked in with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in Mission Bay, CA.  We had 18 passengers today catch 12 Bluefin Tuna (60 to 80 pounds).   We landed 1/2 the fish we hooked today.  We also caught 3 Yellowtail.  We recommend the flat-fall jig with a two-speed reel loaded with spectra and a short 60 to 80 pound fluorocarbon leader.  You have also be prepared with a 25 to 35 pound live bat outfit for the kelps.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in tonight with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. We had very good fishing today with Captain Cameron at the helm. We had 102 Yellowtail (10 to 25 pounds) and 125 Pacific Bonito. We had excellent action today. We have light loads this week.

Another day of going toe to toe with Mike Tyson. When our corner finally threw in the towel we had 2 bluefin (135 & 85 lbs) and 4 yellowfin (25-30 lbs). If you do not own a 2 speed reel you can rent one from our landing before the trip.
