eastern shore Fishing Report 2025

Friday, August 10th, 2012

Hi friends. We finished up our trip today with a decent score of small bluefin, medium bluefin, small yellowtail, large yellowtail, dorado, and two very nice yellowfin. Mark also caught a yellow hard hat which he promptly wore the duration of the day. Anyhow, our weather started out kind of windy but by days end, it was absolutely gorgeous. We're happy everybody had a good time and we'll be in tomorrow morning sometime around 0800 hours. We'll be turning around and rollin' back out with Eric Rogger and company for a five-day adventure.  We had bad odds today.  We fished for wahoo and our fish hooked to fish landed ratio was poor.  It always is with wahoo but I feel today was extra bad.  I think if you're landing half of what you hook with wahoo you're doing OK.  Today at best we were 1/3.  At best.  I called out to 2 of our anglers fishing today and asked what there ratio was for the day and I got a 1/2 and a 1/4.  Then my buddy Dave came up to the wheel house and said he was 0/4.  So that gives you an idea.  If we would've caught half of what we hooked today we would've had a really good day.

 Alright.  I'm done whining.  I'm still glad we came here.  Everybody got there chance at a wahoo and there's still a chance for some more tomorrow.  We're headed inside now and we'll be fishing for wahoo while we're looking for tuna first thing tomorrow morning.  The weather now is fantastic.  A little weird this morning with mixed swell and a wind coming from the southwest but it's beautiful now.

 We couldn't come to an agreement on a price for someone to wear Mark's shirt today.  Justin wanted 200 and Mike said he'd do it for 150 but I couldn't find enough people to chip in.  It was a good one too.  He was wearing a white shirt today, so by 9:00 this morning he could've entered a wet t-shirt contest.  He may have won too if you're into guys like Mark.
        

Aug. 29

Here we go again. We arrived early this morning and unloaded a deck full of bluefin and yellowtail, loaded up some sysco, put on a bunch of fuel, then loaded more groceries, put the new peeps on and took off on the glory run. The Gary Roberts 9 day baby. We got a good load of bait and we're headed down. It looks like we're going to pass by where we caught our bluefin last trip after daylight so we'll definitely be looking for those as we roll down. We'd never pass up that kind of fishing but we're not going to give it our all. If we don't see it and the other boats in the area aren't seeing it we're going to keep her rolling on down down down to destinations unknown. Or better yet not decided on. Either my next report will be about us catching bluefin or it will be about our traveling down.

JJ is running 1.5 day trips to Punta Collonett. Last trip they scored limits of big Reds and a ton of big Lings. Call Fisherman's Landing now at (619) 221-8500 to get in on the action. Tell them SFR sent you.

Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "We're off to a great start here this morning. We made a move down to the Yellowfin grounds that really paid off. We have over 150 Yellowfin tuna on the boat this morning. To that you can add 150 Yellowtail. We'll keep you updated as the day progresses.

"We're leaving on a 1 Day trip tomorrow night. I know some Bluefin have been caught locally. It's a good time to go fishing. There is still very good fishing to be had. Hope to see you on the water."

We're off to a very god start here this morning," said Mike Pritchard. "We're down here at about the 100 mile mark with very nice weather. We're doing well on the kelps and have some open water jig strikes. So far we have 71 Yellowfin Tuna, 61 Yellowtail and a handful of Dorado & Skipjack, for 26 anglers.

"We do leave on a 1.5 Day trip tomorrow night there is still room and the weather should be good. We'll check back later."

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-19-2016 Hello Everyone, Today we woke up having hopes of a repeat day of yesterday. We started off the day by hooking a nice yellowfin of the same size quality as yesterday, but the school did not stick. We had our work cut out for us chasing school after school, spot after spot with the same results. The tuna had lock jaw today and had very suspect behavior of line shy bluefin tuna. Needless to say it was tough, we scraped up another school sized tuna and had a nice flash of yellowtail right at sunset. A nice way to finish off a great trip with a small shooter of yellowtail right before we rode off into the sunset and pointed to boat to San Diego. We Would like to thank Dave Dolan for putting together a great "lets talk hook up" four day trip. We sure had a great time catching some yellows and some of the best quality tuna we will likely see on a four day trip. We will be in bright and early tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by, Team Supreme

July 26
    And we're off on another 5 day trip.  Things didn't go so hot at the bait receivers.  The bait we got was healthy, we just weren't allowed to take a full load.  We were shorted 75 scoops or so.  Anyways, we looked for fishies this afternoon.  We saw some small spots of yellowfin right out of the gates that wouldn't bite, and then didn't see anything until almost dark.  A sonar ball of yellowfin produced three fish so we got jackpot handled already. 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  We're going to slide down a little tonight and look in an area that produced some pretty darn good yellowfin fishing today.  The weather is magnificent.
