Capt Matt has called in an early report of 20 bluefin and 10 yellowtail with 5 fish still hanging. Spots are going fast so make those resos. Passports are required for all trips that fish within 12 miles of Mexican Territory. The Coronado Islands fall into that category.

Hello Everyone, We just returned from our annual Steele 5 day charter. Hosted of course by the one and only Archie Steele. Two things come to mind when this trip rolls around, central valley anglers that love to put fish on the boat and a whole slew of summer produce that we don't normally get our hands on. Yellow Peaches and Asparagus aside we rolled into the yellowtail zone bright and early. There was good sign there and we began fishing. To our pleasant surprise we began landing beautiful 15-20lb yellowfin tuna! A welcome sight, especially because the average size recently was on the smaller side. As we settled in the Yellows got on us pretty good. Helping get the rust off for most of these anglers. Around late morning our current died and we went into a sort of midday lul. We were still able to hang a fish every now and then but not like before. Thankfully it did fire up again around 330, and this time it was hot and heavy. Very steady yellow tail action, had one going the whole time with flurries of 5-7 at a time. All large 20-28lb beautiful yellowtail. Couldn't ask for a better average! We spent the latter part of the trip trying to top off our yellowtail counts and also catch a few exotics. We spent the day searching high and low for Yellows and Dorado. Never got the boomer hit that we were hoping for but we were able to scratch up a handful of Dorado and some more great sized yellowtail. That concluded our five day adventure. Good fishing on great sized Yellowfin tuna, Yellowtail, and Dorado. A great variety trip that kept us on our feet the whole time. A fun action filled day today. We were offshore fishing tuna and yellowtails on kelps. Plenty of tuna sign but they were like they've been, reluctant to bite. We managed to land a couple per rod. The yellows on kelps produced better results. Good fishing on some 10-14 pounders, mostly 15-25 pounders. Again, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. We're going to be fishing Cedros Island tomorrow for those jumbo yellows.

43 Anglers, 164 Yellowfin Tuna 158 Skipjack Tuna 36 Yellowtail 2 Mahi Mahi. Lots of driving was interrupted by 2.5 hours of very aggressive fish

Hello Everyone, We had a great first day of fishing. Full of variety and excitement. Today we mainly caught school sized Yellowfin Tuna and Yellowtail. However there were some Nice Dorado and Grouper mixed in as well. There is a lot of skipjack and small tuna bi catch, but we are able to weed through it for the keeper fish. Tomorrow we will have our sights set on Wahoo and Tuna. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Excellent, excellent fishing on 70-170 lb tuna until about 1pm. Most all of the fish were released. We looked hard late in the afternoon, but a front came up and the weather got rough. One more day for us, wish us luck.

Well we are back out on the water. We departed today on a 5-day with 24 anxious anglers. There are some new faces mixed in with some regulars. Our weather looks like it is going to be good. We will be heading for open water to look for tuna. Dinner tonight was a superb prime rib, with fresh vegetables and potato.

Ryan checking in here with the report for the past week. This past week was full of highs and lows. We fished for yellowtail at the Coronado islands all week and had some good days and some slow days. Finding fish was not the problem this past week. Finding fish that we could catch was a major problem. On both Thursday and Friday we landed 18 yellowtail both of these days we had yellowtail around our boat all day long. The way the yellowtail have been behaving lately we could catch 20 fish in 20 minutes or we could catch 0 in 15 hours. It's all about timing and a little luck never hurts either.

On Friday as we left the islands to head for home I got a call from our association president. Our president informed me that he had just received a letter from the Mexican port authority. This letter stated that any vessel that wishes to fish inside of Mexican territorial waters (24 miles from shore) must first check in at the port of Ensenada. This news was a bombshell to the boats that fish the Mexican coast. Our president has informed us that every U.S. government agency we know is working on this issue and hopes to get it resolved soon.

In the meantime our options on the San Diego are (1) fish in U.S. waters (2) fish in Mexico outside of 24 miles for yellowtail , tuna and dorado. We have decided to fish offshore.

Yesterday was our first trip offshore, we caught 5 bluefin tuna. All offshore trips will be limited to 50 passengers. I will keep you guys posted on any news I get concerning the Coronado islands.
