We found some action early this morning on a kelp with some yellowtails.  Mark found it but I don't think I can give him credit for it.  "twelve  oclock, a trash can lid.  Oh I lost it. oh nine o'clock. ile in a half.  No, half mile.  Two trash can lids.  Oh I lost it".  The second time he lost it he looked ion the wrong side of the boat so i found it and  it was a good sized kelp.  Oh Mark.  Anyhow, everyone on the boat got to pull and tug on a little yeller and tag one or two if they chose.   We hit it a couple times before getting in tuna mode.  Things looked very similar to yesterday.  Many spots of yellowfin around, just no meat to it.  I'm talking 6-12 fish schools mostly and they weren't very interested in us.We worked very hard for just a handful of fish.  The good news is it wasn't boring as I think I mentioned last night.  The fish kept us on  our toes.  Good sight seeing.  Good fishing, bad catching.  Oh well.  We still had a good time out here on our first trip of the year and we have our passengers to thank.
Please excuse the spelling.  I'm sitting back in my chair as I write this and the letters on the screen are to small to see and the E on this keyboard keeps falling off.  We'll get everything under control real soon.

Hi friends. We made a morning of a steady yellowtail pick but it was pretty much a one shot deal. We picked and scratched for a couple of stops after our initial morning deal but it was pretty apparent to us that greener pastures lie somewhere else. About mid-morning time, we began motoring on south to see if we can't set ourselves up for some tuna and wahoo tomorrow. We enjoyed hot, windless traveling weather and many of our anglers and crew took the opportunity to get their bronze on and let me tell you, it was good bronzing today. Anyhow, we're getting some rest in anticipation for tomorrow. Wish us luck and we'll keep you updated on our progress.

Hello everyone how about a little recap of our seven day AHI Charter. We spent two days traveling down to the hot Wahoo grounds in absolutely beautiful flat, whether enjoying the company of all of our good friends old and new! From there proceeded to have some of the most awesome Wahoo fishing for the next three days with a few hundred football yellowfin tuna and a handful of quality Dorado thrown in. The next day we spent scrounging around for a shot at giving everybody a chance to catch a yellowtail. And here we are today traveling up and doing what we always do on the last day hanging out telling stories taking naps and oh yeah we have Wi-Fi so burning up megabytes on Mexicans tell cell. We will be into the dock tomorrow morning and unload our beautiful catch. If you got a chance swing by the landing at daylight and take a peek. Thank you charter master Dallas Lamb and Vance Willer for putting together a great group of guys and a super fun experience for everyone. The Polaris supreme will be at the dock until November 6 doing boat work and then we will depart on our limited load 10 day trip with Jim Holman and the boys! We still have room for four or anglers if you would like to join us November 6 for some of the most impressive Wahoo fishing we have ever seen in the fall. Good evening and happy July to everyone. After not capturing a seabass last night, we shot offshore to try our hand at the tuna game. Nothing to write home about other than a beautiful 20 lb. Yellowtail that we pulled off a kelp. All we can do is remain confident that in time, things will take shape and we'll be ready for those tunas' when they quit being pansies and show themselves. After more driving around we made a move to the inside to do some bonding at the Banda Bank and we managed to entice some tasty critters to latch on to our hooks. It wasn't too great of a bite but we tagged some excellent table fare for the gang to take home.

As the sun began to set, we gave the seabass game another try, this time more southerly than last nights spot and just like last night, we were unsuccessful in the game. We had plenty of squid and had enough around us that we thought we could hook a couple croakers, but it never happened. All in all, it was a slow trip at times but we made the best out of the situation and put our passengers on some action. The group Garth brought out from Optima Networks and other various outlets were a pleasure to have on-board and we look forward to seeing them back in the future.

On a side note, we here at the Polaris Supreme would like to welcome back Chef Barry Benson to the team. Barry was diagnosed with throat cancer last year and with many treatments during the winter, Barry is back with us and better than ever. I've personally known Barry since 2000, when I was a chubby little 14 year old working together on the Holiday. He's a good friend of mine and I along with the rest of the crew are all thrilled that he's back and even more thrilled that he's recovered from his battle with cancer. He's missed being on the water and he's looking forward to many more adventures on the Polaris Supreme with all the fine people that we've come to share the rail with over the years.

That is all. We'll arrive at Fisherman's Landing tomorrow morning at 0600 in the morning and we'll be back out on Thursday for back to back three day trips. We'll report to you then, enjoy your weekends.

Hi friends. We departed Fisherman's Landing Thursday evening on our inaugural Optima 1 1/2 charter. We topped off on sardines and made a hard right turn coming out of the bay to go try our hand at some local White Seabass action. We gave it a shot and even with some live squid we were unsuccessful in hooking one. Since the distance to the local tuna grounds is close to home we decided to play around in the evening hours do some seabass fishing before we left for the tuna grounds.

That's what's going on. No seabass and we'll be trying our hand on the local grounds for some Bluefin tuna. Our weather is fine and the boys are very excited to do some tuna fishing. Wish us luck.

Good evening everyone, Today we did some inshore fishing. Conditions were not favorable, not a lot of current left the fish very unwilling. However were able to scratch together a day of nice rockfish, Sheepshead, and a variety of other fish. Including the inshore trifectra: Yellowtail, Halibut, and White Seabass! A nice day to get out of the weather! We are headed back down to try for big bluefin tomorrow! Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Polaris Supreme docked September 17 at Fisherman's Landing under owner Tom Rothery's hand following an eight-day Gary Roberts charter trip to Alijos Rocks and The Ridge. "It was a good trip," said Roberts, "with lots of fish caught and lots of fish lost." Sizeable tuna were hard to catch at the rocks, said Tom, because the skipjack, small tuna and sharks were all thick and hungry. The tuna were there, however, as were some wahoo. The Ridge got a good lock from the 24 anglers aboard the Supreme. They said there were plenty of yellowtail and lots of grouper and snapper biting there. Rothery said the temperature on The Ridge was very warm, at 81.5 degrees. Tom estimated that his anglers each released about 20 small tuna and four or five yellowtail. Jay Kotsier of Tulare showed off a pink pargo, also known as red snapper. These are excellent eating, especially if they have been kept in refrigerated sea water instead of under a frozen brine spray. Tom, Kroes of Tipton was first, for a 65.2-pound yellowfin tuna he got with a sardine on a 5/0 Mustad hook, 50-pound Big Game line, a TLD 30 reel and a Calstar 7465 rod. Everett Combs of PAZlm Springs was second, for a 62-pounder, and Alan Holleyman of Napa won third place for a 60.6-pound tuna. Bill Kuehl of Poway stood in with the winner, posing with his 50-pound wahoo taken on a Burns Bomb in Christmas colors.

 I told myself yesterday that if we caught 30 wahoo today it would be worth the move.  We caught 31.  Scoooore!
 
 It was good in the morning.  By 10:00 we were moving right along on pace to have one heck of a day.  Then things went slow.  We were able to scratch just enough, and with the expectancy of an evening hit, we still were feeling good.  That hit never happened.  One here and two there was the rest of our day.  But like I said, I'm very pleased with what we caught.  It was definitely worth the ride.  It helps that every wahoo we caught this trip is a toad.  40-50+ pounds baby.

 We're headed up now.  We'll have to be making headway toward home for the rest of the trip.  We only have a couple of days left.  We're going to give it a shot and finding a dorado kelp in the morning.  The 3 boats that tried it prior to us struck out so we'll have a back up plan.  Our plan B is to fish yellows at an island tomorrow afternoon.  See you tomorrow.
