Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-20-2016 Good afternoon everyone, Today we started out fishing off the central baja coast, in hopes of lots of large yellowtail and maybe even a Seabass or two. An early wake up call was in order to try for a premium sized yellowtail or Seabass. Unfortunately the fish had other plans. So we pulled the anchor and began searching for any sign of yellowtail. We were not able to find any breaking fish or breezers but the bait life around was astonishing. We worked bait ball after bait ball for nothing. After concluding that the conditions were not panning out we started working our way north. Spot after spot of scratch yellowtail fishing. However there were a few lucky anglers that landed some quality mossbacks. We worked at it till about high noon and then decided to head off shore in hopes of a boomer kelp patty or a biting school of tuna. Water is clean and our hopes are high, Team Supreme

Bluefin fishing is good this morning. We have 10 Bluefin on board right now in the 50-80 pound range and have several hanging. We have 21 anglers on board and are off to a good start.

Here is a suggested tackle list for our 5:30 - 5:00 Coronado island trips for February and March. (1) a yo-yo outfit, this outfit should be a 20 or 30 size reel spooled with 40 lb. monofilament. Any 6 - 8 ft. rod rated for 40 lb. will work good. (2) Deep water cod rod. This outfit should be a 20 or 30 size reel spooled with 65 or 80 lb. spectra. Any 6-8 ft. rod capable of handling a 16 oz. sinker will work good. (3) a 25 or 30 lb. live bait outfit. This outfit should be a 20 size reel spooled with 25 or 30 lb. monofilament. A 7-8 ft. Rod rated for 25-30 lb. will be perfect. TERMINAL TACKLE. An assortment of torpedo sinkers from 6-16 ounces. A dozen rockcod hooks. We really like Mustad EZ baiters in the 10/0 size. A pack of size 2/0 live bait hooks. We really like Mustad 94150 A couple of heavy lures. Salas 6x jr and Salas 6x in blue/white and scrambled egg are perfect. Most of our trips we have been fishing deep water in the morning and shallow water in the afternoon. As soon as we see yellowtail the rock fishing will take a back seat.

Hello Everyone, Last night was a slower than the previous nights for tuna. In the morning we focused on Wahoo. We were rewarded with a couple stops for Wahoo and a handful of 20lb Yellowtail. We will be working up tomorrow. We will be in search of Yellowtail. Wish us Luck, Team Supreme

We now have the Apollo in beautiful Santa Barbara for the rest of the spring. We are running two Berkley sponsored limited load overnight trips to the Channel Islands. The first trip will depart on Thursday night April 19th at 9 pm to fish on Friday April 20th. The second trip will depart at 9 pm on Thursday night May 17th to fish Friday May 18th. Switching gears from Wahoo to Yellow Fin Tuna. Locked and loaded for another Guadalupe adventure!

Fishing was not wide open today. The guys topped off with the yellowtail for the trip. They also had good fishing on the dorado on a couple of different kelp patties. Our weather continues to be great. As we travel home to make our 6:00am arrival tomorrow we will be dining on Pedro's exquisite prime rib dinner. Come see us at the dock or better yet book a trip and come out with us. Tomorrow we'll be heading out on Tom Chaparro's annual 5 day, 18 passenger, lite load charter.
