braidwood Fishing Report 2024

April 17 & 18, 2013

Wednesday (the 17th) we had 10-11 Tuna in the 110-197 lb range and 12 wahoo. This morning we so far we have 8 tuna in the same range as yesterday, and 2 wahoo. Conditions are still good and we are having fun with the kite fishing. Yesterday we had some wind, and today's forecast is to be more, but so far we are having good weather. Hope it keeps up.

Good evening friends, Today we fished the yellowtail area again for another couple of hours, with very similar results. Things started off slow first thing in the morning, but picked up a little later. Soon we were able to put a nice bunch of mossbacks on the boat before we had to take off mid day. We are currently in route to the yellowfin tuna grounds. Recently they have been biting very well. We should be in the grounds tomorrow morning sometime after breakfast. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Today was a bust for us in the yellowtail grounds. We arrived pre daylight and Tommy stopped on some yellows so we fished it in the dark and fished it in the light for nothing. We looked around after that and all the key ingredients were there. Bait life, bird life, and schools of yellowtails were all around but it wouldn't go. Just a handful of bites. After giving it a few hours to get with it for not a whole lot we decided not to hang out and burn a day doing it. We're on the move to the wahoo grounds. We're ready for them too. We did the wahoo seminar and everyone spent the afternoon rigging up wire leaders for the toothy fish. We'll be where we'll be at or soon after daylight and we're hoping for some wahoo action. If not wahoo let's hope we can get some action on the tuna,pargo and yellowtails. Let's also hope for low wind velocity. It was getting pretty windy this afternoon and it's currently traveling faster down then we are.

Hello Everyone, We just wrapped up our open two day trip. Local fishing has been really tough and was no exception on this trip. We hustled, got the boat ready and departed from San Diego quickly, so we could maximize our fishing time on this two day adventure. Although we got on the grounds very quickly and were fishing fast, it still was tough. There was a lot of searching, scouring, and moving around to try and find some action. Our persistence eventually paid off when we found a couple kelp pattys with some great Yellowtail fishing. It was wall to wall action. Just what the doctor ordered. Everyone had a chance to pull on fish and get introduced to the chaos that is offshore kelp patty fishing. Through the intense action we also managed to land a beautiful Dorado, that would later take jackpot. A very trying couple of days, however we did manage to piece together some great action for our anglers. Looking forward to next year! We depart on our Emerson and friends 5 day next! RECENT NEWS!!! I WILL BE PUTTING SOME MORE OPEN PARTY TRIPS ON THE APOLLO. These trips will be limited to only 20 people. Can you imagine a boat like the Apollo with only 20 people or less every day. I will be running Saturday and Sunday the 10th and 11th. I'll be fishing the northern Channel Islands for rock fish, lingcod and potentially Sea Bass and Halibut. 22 passengers on todays boat. We hauled in a catch of 30 yellowtail and 40 bonito. Capt. Matt Bralla and the boys enjoy some quality Fall yellowtail fishing. Come and get in on the “Locals summer”.

Today we had a good morning hit on the better grade tuna. Once the sun came up the tuna were still there and biting, but the skip jack moved in as well. Eventually it settled into a pick on the great grade tuna through the skip jack. We also had some Grouper and large Yellowtail mixed in. We will be in search of Wahoo tomorrow.

Friday April 19

Great day of fishing today. One over 200 lbs. and a couple real close.

We had 20 tuna and 12 wahoo. Weather has backed off and is gorgeous.

We are looking forward to the last couple days of fishing.
