Nov. 14

                We had very good wahoo fishing today. We caught a lot of wahoo.  You don't see it much better then what we had today.  At least for a few hour window there.  We got our scratch on early, then we got our catch on mid to early afternoon, and then we went back to scratching till dark.  It was good.  I think I may of seen it better, I probably have in 15 years but this was pretty darn close to as good as I've seen, again, at least for that few hour window mid morning. 

 

                As much as myself and the rest of everyone on board would love to stay here another day, the wind is coming.  We'd have good weather tomorrow but we'd have to seriously pay for it on the ride home if we stayed.  So we're headed across to the Cedros area and we're expecting good weather during the ride across.  Who knows, maybe we'll find a kelp for some dorado and more wahoo tomorrow morning.  If not, we should be fishing for yellows by or after lunch tomorrow. 

                                                                                               

Captain Ryan Bostian called in an with a Bluefin Audio Update! The Bluefin Tuna are really close. We are seeing fish up to 100 pounds. The smaller fish 20 to 25 pounds are biting 20 pound test pretty good. But please bring some heavy line for the bigger models! Captain Ryan Bostian checked in today with an update from the San Diego. Today we had 50 passemgers catch 16 bluefin tuna (including a 116, 108 and a 65 pounder) and 10 yellowtail. Plenty of opportunity on the grounds today. Don't miss out on what could be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-18-2019 Another good day on the tuna, scratched up a few nice Wahoo and threw in some beautiful grouper to go with it. Overall a very satisfying and complete day! The weather kind of sucked the first half of the day but was good the second half! Weird squally weather this trip more drizzle and rain. Everybody's having a great time looking forward to tomorrow our last full day of fishing down south! Oh yeah almost forgot Wahoo enchiladas for dinner this evening! They were absolutely screaming! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

The Ranta Charter started off fishing yellowfin tuna with a decent little score on school sized fish ranging from 10-20 pounds. Most of the fish were caught on the flylined sardine with 30 pound test and a 2/0 hook. We also had as handful of troll fish that came off of green and black zuker feathers. The next day we sought after some quality yellowtail between 20 and 30 pounds. Sadly, these fish didn't show like we hoped they would have. We saw a couple small schools of fish that came up and boiled in the chum, but nothing would stick with the boat. Fish were being caught on flylined sardine, yo-yo jigs, and everyone's favorite technique, the surface iron. We managed to pick away at some of these fish in the morning before calling it quits and moving on in search of a better bite. After hearing reports of the yellowfin bite picking up, We decided to make a run to the grounds to get in on the action. We arrived mid-morning with high expectations, as a couple other boats in the area had some big scores off big schools of yellowfin. It didn't take long for our dreams to turn to reality as a four way trolling hookup turned into a wide open bite. They were biting anything that was thrown in the water for a solid hour until most of the passengers had their fill pulling on these tuna, that averaged 15 pounds. We had a couple more stops for not as much success before pointing the boat towards something new. The last day of fishing was spent offshore looking for kelps, but dirty water and 20 mph winds made it hard kelp finding conditions/ However, we managed to pick up a few nice Dorado as well as a couple more yellowfin to add to our total. This was a great trip with some awesome people, a couple a which had their first experience out here fishing saltwater. July 19
    Today was a bust for us.  I can't sugar coat it any.  It was slow all around.  We chased around fish all morning but we never really saw much volume in one area.  The fish were scattered out one here two there for miles.  We'd stop and maybe get one or two per drift but it wasn't enough to keep us around.  We left and went to the next Island up arriving after lunch.  After looking around for a while we found one spot that I think we would have done well on if there were no such things as sea lions.  The yellows boiled around and we hooked seven or eight of them and they were all stolen from us by our furry little friends.  After that we took off and fished offshore the rest of the day and only caught a handful of tuna.

    The weather right now is good and we should have it tomorrow as well.  We're going to copy our first morning out here and hopefully have similar results.
                                

 

Friday, August 10th, 2012

Hi friends. We finished up our trip today with a decent score of small bluefin, medium bluefin, small yellowtail, large yellowtail, dorado, and two very nice yellowfin. Mark also caught a yellow hard hat which he promptly wore the duration of the day. Anyhow, our weather started out kind of windy but by days end, it was absolutely gorgeous. We're happy everybody had a good time and we'll be in tomorrow morning sometime around 0800 hours. We'll be turning around and rollin' back out with Eric Rogger and company for a five-day adventure.
