April 24, 2024 bop Fishing Report

Fishing was not wide open today. The guys topped off with the yellowtail for the trip. They also had good fishing on the dorado on a couple of different kelp patties. Our weather continues to be great. As we travel home to make our 6:00am arrival tomorrow we will be dining on Pedro's exquisite prime rib dinner. Come see us at the dock or better yet book a trip and come out with us. Tomorrow we'll be heading out on Tom Chaparro's annual 5 day, 18 passenger, lite load charter. Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute called in with another great fishing report, they have 90 Mixed Tuna 18 - 40 lbs and 35 Yellowtail. We had an absolutely wonderful day fishing today. We had the most flat calm weather and the tuna fishing was as good as it gets. It was all offshore on sonar schools and meter marks. The fish were all 20-32 lbs. and few bigger. It was a good day to be on the water.

April 21, 2024 bop Fishing Report

 

Good evening folks. Here it is, the final day of the Garry Roberts 9-day adventure. How we spent it was waking up first thing in the morning, collapsing/retrieving the sea anchor, and attempting to locate some Yellowfin and Bluefin tuna. It took us a while to get some located and after a jig strike here and a jig strike there, we found a real meaty stop for a mid-morning bite. Along with a ripper Yellowfin bite, we managed a couple handfuls of Dorado, a handful of Bluefin, and we also released two Skipjack, our first of the year. After our busy stop, that was pretty much it and after Chef Barry kicked out his Mahi-Mahi enchiladas, we had to call it a trip and begin the trek back home. Not a bad half day of fishing for us and we're content with out tuna tally for the trip. The weather remains a bit breezy but the consensus amongst the fleet, including us, is that once the weather comes down a bit, the fishing will start to get better. We'll see.

April 20, 2024 bop Fishing Report

Captain Ryan Bostian called in tonight with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. We have been fishing down the beach and the Yellowtail are biting really good on the surface iron and fly-lined baits. Today we had 51 anglers catch 240 Yellowtail (10 to 25 pounds). It's been a fun couple of weeks. Don't miss out on this opportunity. We fish every day and depart at 5:30 AM.

April 19, 2024 bop Fishing Report

51 bass 36 barracuda 1 sheepshead. We spent our day looking for a new zone with better conditions. We saw a couple schools of yellowtail but did not connect. Still enjoyed fun fishing in excellent weather.

April 18, 2024 bop Fishing Report

Captain Ryan checked in tonight with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. We returned late last night. Our trip today and Friday have been cancelled due to weather. Our next trip is going to be Saturday.

We had 25 anglers catch 7 Bluefin Tuna, 38 Yellowtail and 35 Bonito. We had some nice quality on the Bluefin Tuna. We had 6 Bluefin Tuna between 60 and 108 pounds. To be exact we had Bluefin Tuna weighing in at 108, 102, 90, 90, 80 and 60 pounds. We also had one small one that we caught on the troll early in the morning. There is excellent sign of big Bluefin Tuna right now.

It is very important to be prepared with the correct tackle. A Shimano Talica 12 or 16 two speed filled with 65 or 80 lb spectra. Connected to 5 feet of 80 or 130 lb flouro and a 250 gram flatfall. A sinker bait rig fished with a Talica 16 or 20 two speed filled halfway with 80 lb spectra than topped off with 60 or 80 lb mono to a short leader of 80 lb flouro. A 2/0 or 3/0 circle hook and a 4-6 oz torpedo sinker.
Please bring the correct tackle. During our last trip we had 20 hookups and got 6 of them.

April 17, 2024 bop Fishing Report

Hello Everyone, The weather was pretty rough last night and is still pretty choppy today. It does not look like we will have time to fish today. Yesterday fishing was so good, we were able to enjoy the fruits of our labors with some freshly filleted yellowtail for today's lunch. 20- 30 lb fresh yellowtail for lunch, doesn't get much better than that! We will be in San Diego tomorrow bright and early tomorrow morning. Will report again then, Team Supreme
