Polaris Supreme Trip Report 12-03-2018 So that nasty old wind is gone! It's only about 2 to 5 kn between Guadalupe and Ensenada right now. I hear you guys have another storm coming in to California on Tuesday! Hopefully that won't bring the wind and swell for our ride home on Thursday night through Saturday morning! Oh yeah fishing! Fishing was good today, it started off at sun up and continued into the dark. It was kind of a steady pick all day except for a little lullishness during mid day. Our big fish today was around 110 pounds. Most of the other ones were in the 70 to 90 pound range. The hot stick still continues to be 50 or 60 pound Spectra/Mono/some guys are using floral carbon with a 3/0 hooked. The sharks continue to be absent and we don't miss them one bit. We will be here again tomorrow hoping for another big day! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Mike Pritchard called in to give this report for the Tribute. "We're on day 2 of a 4 day charter trip with a light load of guys. It is just an 8 man charter. We're having very good fishing. We started off fishing for Bluefin yesterday, with a little bit of Rockfishing in the afternoon. We also caught a couple of nice Lingcod up to 28 lbs. We made a move about 100 miles down the beach and got into some really good Yellowtail fishing, 35 to 40 lb. yellowtail. The best techniques have been fly-lined fish, yo-yo jigs and surface irons. Just very fun fishing. We're going to spend the rest of the day down here and go offshore tomorrow. We'll target some yellowfin tuna and keep you updated.

Today was kind of a disappointing day. We woke up catching yellowtail but it quickly stopped biting after daylight. We trolled up the place for several strikes on wahoo but the catching was slim. The ratio of hooked to land is never good with wahoo but this morning it was especially bad. We lost 3 marauders today. That's about what you lose when you have a 100 fish day on these things and we did not. Anyways, after that we weren't getting strikes anymore so we kept her rolling to a couple of spots I've been real excited about trying for the last couple of weeks and it really bummed me out. No wahoo, no tuna, not even any dorado. A few yellows was all. So we ran back up to this mornings honey hole and had a strike where the odds were in our favor. I'm not sure if we lost a fish. 8 lucky anglers caught a nice wahoo. We trolled it up till dark for nothing else. We're going to give it one more chance tomorrow looking in a different wahoo, dorado zone and if it stinks we're going to finish up the trip in the closer to home zone. We're keeping an eye on the storm so there's nothing to worry about ladies. I'll bring you hubbies home safe and sound.

How we ended up with only one picture today with such good fishing this morning on yellowtail I don't know? The one picture of Ricky kinda tells it all though! We took off and look for bluefin all afternoon and saw plenty! No biters. Most of the fish was 50 to 150 pounds! We will be trying for yellowtail again tomorrow. Great weather, great fishing and a great group of passengers on Joe Beck and Mal Wagstaff's three day charter. Thanks for tuning in the Polaris supreme crew!

New 1.5 Day Limited Load Trip on The Polaris Supreme Trip. The Polaris supreme has a new 1 1/2 day trip scheduled to depart Sunday afternoon at 6 PM fish all day Monday and return Tuesday morning at 6 AM. We still have six spots open and the trip is all inclusive meals Mexican permits etc. We will be targeting the 15 to 30 pound yellowfin tuna that is outside San Diego. Plenty of room at the rail this past weekend ! On Saturday our 8 passengers caught 25 quality calico bass and another 25 miscellaneous rockfish. On Sunday our 7 passengers caught 20 nice calico bass and 20 rockfish. The highlight of the weekend was a 15 lb. white sea bass caught on Sunday. We also released a short sea bass. If you are one of those people that do not enjoy fishing with a crowd. This is the time for you ! Our next trip is Friday December 7. Make those resos !
