Polaris Supreme Trip Update 08-08-2012 Jack pot.

Well here we are back at the dock from Tom Chaparro's annual 6-day trip. And what a fantastic trip it was. From the anglers, weather, fishing, good times were definitely had by all. Tom's going to do his 6-day in the same spot next year but limited to only 18 anglers.

It was a beautiful catch to see all laid out on the deck. The tuna were in absolutely gorgeous condition, vibrant and glowing in the early morning sunshine as we arrived into San Diego Bay. The first place jackpot weighed up at the scale was Rich Vande Noord with a 48.2 lb.

yellowfin tuna. He also had a 47.9 pounder. Second place was one of those guys you just love to love, Herb Yamanaka. Herb, thank you for your heartfelt homespun wooden treasures. We all, passengers and crew, will cherish them. You're the man! Herb's fish was a 46 lb. yellowfin tuna. Third place went to Kyle Krajewski with a 44.3 lb. yellowfin tuna. I'll see you on the road tomorrow Kyle. Thanks again Tom for bringing out a couple ladies instead of all stinky guys. It was a blast to have Mary and Taylor on board. Hope you all made it home safe and sound.

The last couple of days we have experienced some fun Coronado Island fishing for yellowtail, bluefin tuna, calico bass and barracuda on private charters. As a result we have switched our open party trips to Island trips. These trips will unfortunately require a passport and will begin on Monday. The best setups have been a 20 or 25 lb flyline setup and a 30-40 lb setup to fish a yo-yo lure or dropper loop. Plenty of targets for all you jig chuckers as well. The cost of this trip is $225 which includes your Mexican Fishing License, your FMM visitors visa, your biosphere reserve bracelet, plenty of live bait and 5 seasoned crewmen. Rental rods, fish cleaning and food will be extra. We have a full galley onboard with plenty of ice cold beer, soda and water. We also offer delicious burgers and all your basic breakfast items. The first 34 passengers to make resos at 619-224-3383 are in.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with a Coronado Island Report from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing. Today we had 24 anglers catching 92 Yellowtail (up to 30 pounds). Yesterday we only had 14. But they rebounded good today they were biting really good. We are a go tomorrow! The fish were mainly in the 15 pound class. They are biting very well on the surface iron but we did catch fish on live bait too. Call Seaforth at (619) 224-3383 to get in on the action.

Polaris Supreme Report 07-22-2016 Happy Friday everyone! We elected to stay the night at the same place as yesterday, in hopes of another action packed day of yellowtail fishing . We got the anchor down and started fishing around 5:30, to stage ourselves for the morning hit. As the misty morning came upon us we began to hook some nice yellowtail. We were finally starting to hit our stride when the fish quit biting. As the sky cleared it seemed as the yellows did too. We tried several spots that amounted to a slow pick throughout the day. Unfortunately we finished off the day without the wall to wall action yellowtail hit we were hoping for. However we still scratched up some quality fish. We feel very fortunate to have had such a great day of fishing yesterday. After fishing hard into the early afternoon we finally set a course for Point Loma to and wrap up this great 5 day trip. We have smooth sailing for the ride up and are looking at 7:00 am at the dock. We currently have a four day online departing August 2nd that still has a couple openings. Good evening, friends. Awesome day out here on the Supreme. No need to get too wordy about things today, we had a super day. Well, it was more like a super 5-hour drift on 40-60 lb. Bluefin and the rest of the day was spent enjoying beautiful weather. All in all, I consider today to be just terrific and I gave Drew's mustache a high five to show my approval. Y'all should too.

From 10:00 hours until 15:00 hours, we plunked away at that stellar grade of fish and when the dust settled, we had just shy of 100 of those beauties all while enjoying a bronze in flat calm weather. You can't beat that, you can't! It was some of the better action on BFT in recent years and we had some real flurries with at least 10 fish hanging at one time. It was very nice! Everybody had a shot at a few of those bruisers and we're pumped about or day.

We didn't really have time to take a lot of photos because we were so busy. Sorry, Riddler but know that the BFT look exactly like the ones from prior trips and they are chillin' super fresh in the RSW well. Sometimes, you've just got to make a drop.

Anyhow, we're going to do this for one more day and then see about heading to one of our favorite Yellowtail spots on Thursday. Things are really looking up right now and the Yellowtail grounds are no different. Really good fishing on some 'tails right now and we're looking at that with mouths agape. But, we still have some business to attend to with my favorite fish in the ocean, the Bluefin tuna.
