Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-07-2019 Nice travel day today! Good weather good company and great food. Oh yeah little bit a napping and to. Hi friends. I just want to start off by saying that Travis Donahue our new best friend. That guy gets on the boat and the Bluefin just are drawn to this guy. He's been on the boat three times this year already and every time he's out, the Bluefin bite. It's truly amazing. This trip was no exception as he tagged along with Garth and the boys from Optima and we had ourselves a good day on 15-30 lb. Bluefin. The other boats in the area struggled but we filled the box a few times on a couple of stops and we also managed to catch three thirty pound Yellowfin off of a kelp along with some Yellowtail. Like I said, it wasn't for everyone out here but thankfully, we had Travis on the boat and everything was just fine for us on the Supreme. We also had awesome weather to round out a fun day of fishing and we're currently en route back to San Diego. We'll be back to the docks tomorrow morning around 0900 hours. Today we went out with 27 anglers and caught 30 yellowtail. These yellows have been a challenge to hook but well worth the work. The grade of this fish is as good as anybody can remember in the local waters. 25-30 pounders have become the norm rather than the exception. The wise angler would bring a 25 or 30 lb. bait rod a 40 or 50 lb. yo-yo rod as well as your surface iron rod with fresh 40 lb. Today we caught fish on all three techniques.

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP REPORT 11-08-2020 TO 11-12-2020 Day 6 and 7 ( that would be the 8th and 9th) where very similar. Both days we had fair pickings on the wahoo on the sardine during the day and Incredibility Awesome fishing on 30 to 40 pound Yellow tail at nite. A couple of great days of fishing. Weather was a little breezy but not to bad all and all good weather except our traveling to get here that was rough going. Day 8 the 10th we spent the morning fishing kelp patty's for Dorado and Wahoo. The guys kept 14 Dorado and released the rest and we had 2 wahoo get away. The rest of the day was spent traveling and napping. We where really burning the candle at both end of the stick fishing all day for Wahoo and all night for monster Yellow tail. The sleep was well earned. Day 9 and 10. That's today and tomorrow. Today is scrub the boat day and we have great weather to do it in. Tomorrow we will be arriving early to unload a nice catch of fish. We would like to thank all of our great anglers for a fun trip and special thanks to Jim Stan and Clarence for bringing their friends together on the trip. Thank you Stan you ARE THE SWAG MASTER. "Fishing today was absolutely excellent!" wrote Polaris Supreme skipper Tom Rothery August 23. "The albacore bit all day and the weather has laid down and is good. All the albies were in the 25 to 30-pound range. For lunch we had swordfish in a butter, lemon, and caper cream sauce. For dinner we had a rack of lamb with a blue cheese port wine sauce. Yummy! A couple of boats headed to Guadalupe to no avail. We still have a spot here and there on some of our upcoming trips. Give Susan a call in the office if you can get away and come fish."
Rothery docked his boat at Fisherman's Landing August 24. He spent his fishing time on the four-day trip on the albacore grounds, with a half-day at Cortes Bank, where second skipper Drew Henderson reported big numbes of large bonito biting. The bones were eight to 12 pounds, he said. John Windling of Portland, OR won first place for a 41.4-pound albacore. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 3/0 Mutu hook tied to 40-pound fluorocarbon leader and 60-pound Line One Spectra. He used an Avet JX reel and a Calstar 765 XL rod. David Schulz of Yorba Linda was second, for a 38.6-pounder, and John Thompson of Phoenix, AZ won third place for a 37-pound albacore.

Hi friends. Great morning for us here on the Supreme. We worked our way up to the Yellowfin zone last night/early this morning and we were pleasantly surprised when we woke up on the grounds to find good working weather. With that, we got on a school this morning that produced easy Mexican daily limits for us in one stop. The grade of fish was 18-25 lbs. with a few bigger and smaller mixed in, they bit really well for us.

What turned on in the afternoon was the weather and we're presently bumping up the line to finish off our trip on Bluefin tomorrow. The boats in the area reported excelent, scores so we're hoping to use up the rest of our energy on the BFT's manana before we have to call it a trip.

Anyways, the passengers are doing fine; downstairs watching "Eastbound and Down" and getting ready to eat some of Chef Shawn's Asian-inspired ribs and hunker down for the remainder of the evening. We'll see how our weather shapes up but it's supposed to come down. We'll see. We'll chat with you tomorrow for a wrap-up report.

We just got tied up this morning from a 3 Day trip. We finished with 15 Bluefin Tuna. The first day we saw a good sign of fish bit it was hard to get a bite. Yesterday the fish were more scatted and it was tougher fishing. The biggest we landed was a 197 pounder and we had a couple in the 140-150 pound range. We put in the effort to scratch up 15 of them.

Hello everyone, Today we had an exciting day of catching Bluefin Tuna and BIG Yellowtail. The Yellowtail mainly came on big Greenback Mackerel we caught ourselves. They were bruisers, once you were bit you had to pull as hard as you could to get them out of the rocks. We had many casualties but the fish we landed were very large. We are looking to try again for these Yellowtail tomorrow before looking offshore for a bigger grade of tuna. Wish us luck, Team Supreme
